Social apostolate is the continuation of the ministry of Jesus; his reaching out to the poor, the sick and the marginalized through miracles, assuring presence and challenging actions were the sign as well as the reality of the imminent Kingdom of God as revealed in the Gospels. As a welcoming community, we begin our social apostolate among our neighbours; for, we are called to look into the concrete life situations of our fellowmen for a deeper personal God-experience. So, our social apostolate begins with charity in the first place manifested through our sincere response to the people’s immediate needs in specific situations: feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, caring for and healing the sick, etc.
We run institutions for the mentally, and orphan children. We take care of mentally challenged children. At Phillaur, we are having a special school wing attached to our school. We have a hostel at Phillaur having 30poor catholic girls children who are freely studying in our ICSE school. So as to help the poor around us to become economically independent, we run balavadi for the small children who are not abe to go to the school due to financial problems and a training institution of cutting and tailoring, and embroidery, etc. at Phillaur. At Narwana we run a boarding for the orphan children who are studying in our ICSE school. All their needs are taken care of. Village development programmes, self help group and women empowerment programmes are conducted by our sisters.
We try to raise the standard of education of the poor around us by conducting, literacy classes, remedial classes, and free tuition etc. It is in the home where life is welcomed, protected and nurtured. We teach people about the importance and sacredness of family life and convince them of their responsibilities to build a good family based on mutual love and respect. Efforts are taken to restore the broken families by reconciling those in conflict. We work for the welfare of all the families regardless of caste and creed. Following the instructions of our Founder, we lay the foundation for good families by helping girls in their character formation and personality development. Love of God and love of the poor were the catchwords of our Founder. Social Service activities of the Adoration Congregation are based on the Spiritual Values and Christian Principles for the welfare of the poor and the marginalized. Every Community find time to visits to the families, villages, and slums. A budget and action plan for Social work Activities is prepared at the Local, and Provincial Level every year. Special help of human resource and financial assistance are provided during natural and other occasions.
The SABS sisters sacrifice their life and time to render services to the poor, the aged, mentally retarded, handicapped, the orphans, the beggars and the oppressed in various places. Our sisters organize various programmes for the upliftment of the poor, the women etc. They lead them to a state of self-sufficiency by organizing different welfare programs for them and thus raising their moral, social and financial status. The sisters give leadership in Mahila Mandals, arranging saving schemes and literacy programmes. We gave great priority to propagate the message of Jesus especially to the lower strata of the society.
